Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes See note 1
  • 1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1/2 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt See note 2
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • olive oil for dipping, See note 3

Instructions

  • Blend all the spices together in a bowl.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of the spice blend to a plate and add up to 4 tablespoons of good quality olive oil to the plate and stir to distribute the herbs.
  • You can easily adjust the amount of herbs to oil as needed.
  • Store any leftover herb blend covered in the fridge for up to one week and use as needed.

Notes

Note 1: Red pepper flakes can be adjusted to personal preference. When in doubt, add less and add more if you feel you need more heat.
Note 2: Coarse sea salt may feel too salty in some cases; consider trying fine sea salt but use 1/4 less than the recipe calls for.
Note 3: Use the best olive oil you can find for the herb mixture. Plan for about 4 tablespoons per teaspoon of spice blend per person.
